A trip to Sanibel Island is more festive when you have fun-filled events the entire family can attend. From the popular and unique Luminary Festival and holiday parades to the annual shell fair, it’ll be easy to get on Island Time with these annual island-themed events. It’s not a storied event like some of those we mentioned, but the Sanibel Island Farmers Market is a popular draw for both on- and off-island locals, and visitors. Catch it every Sunday at Sanibel City Hall from October through April.

The kiddos and adults alike will love the Rotary Club’s Annual Arts & Crafts Fair and the Lion’s Club Annual Arts and Crafts Fair. Peruse handmade crafts and beautiful artwork and pick up something for your home. Sanibel Island is known for its unique seashells and postcard beaches and there isn’t an event more Sanibel than the Sanibel Shell Fair, Shell Show and Festival. You’ll love seeing all of the beautiful seashells, shell art, live mollusk tanks and judged scientific and artistic exhibits. The Fourth of July parade and the fireworks are also very popular. See why everyone loves Sanibel’s restaurants and eateries and sample delicious meals at CROW’s Taste of the Islands, an annual event that raises funds for the wildlife clinic. The J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is beloved by both visitors and locals. Ding Darling Days celebrate the park and its wildlife. There’s a nature photography contest, nature cruises, art exhibits, animal Olympics and more. The Sanibel Luminary Festival is one of the most popular events on the island. It brings people together and promotes goodwill. It’s a Christmas time event, so kids can have their photos taken with Santa. A trail of light spans the island and businesses are open later. There’s music and an emphasis on camaraderie and community. It’s an uplifting and special time on the island.
