Boating

Captiva Island is the perfect place for you if you’re a boater or just want to experience a day on the water. Take in the natural beauty of the islands that dot the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Pine Island Sound, and Roosevelt Channel. Make a day of it and visit places you can’t get to by car, like North Captiva Island, Cabbage Key, and Cayo Costa – a state park. You’re likely to see fish jumping, dolphins playing, and you may even spot a manatee along the way.

There are a few marinas on Captiva where you can find the perfect boat to rent. Royal Shell’s guests enjoy a discount on boat rentals at Jensen’s Marina and at Port Sanibel Marina, and if you’re staying in one of our waterfront properties and it has a dock, they’ll even deliver the boat to you.

If you’d rather let someone else take the wheel so you can relax and enjoy the views, you’ll find plenty of options. Spend the day sailing or book a lunch cruise, a shelling trip, a dolphin and wildlife cruise, or a romantic sunset cruise.

If you want to explore under your own power, check out options for kayak or paddleboard rentals. The Great Calusa Blueway is a marked paddling trail that winds along the back bays. Paddle close to small mangrove islands for a good look at birds, fish, and whatever other critters may be out foraging.

Visit YOLO Watersports near the beach on Andy Rosse Lane if you want to cruise around Captiva on a WaveRunner or test your sailing skills on a Hobie Wave. They offer surfboards, stand-up paddleboards and other toys for rent. They’ll take you up for a parasail adventure, too.
