Ocala is rich with an art scene featuring many mediums including painting and sculpture, music, and performance. The Appleton Museum of Art is a gem in the local area and the Ocala Civic Theater next door.
The Webber Gallery on the campus of the College of Central Florida highlights the work of students, faculty and artists from the community. The venue has the capability to host traveling exhibits.
The Reilly Center is home to the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and also operates the Marion Theatre located in downtown Ocala. Brick City Center for the Arts, also downtown, is a gallery space featuring a mix of talented local artists. The center, under the direction of the Marion Cultural Alliance and the City of Ocala, also works to promote art projects throughout the community like the wildly popular “Horse Fever.”
The city has commissioned local artists to create several murals at sites and has incorporated the Tuscawilla Art Park to display a series of large scale sculptures and murals.
The city won a multi-year grant from the Levitt Foundation to host the Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series of outdoor concerts at Webb Field at the MLK Recreation Complex. The Spring Art Park Series concert is hosted at Tuscawilla Park.
