It’s time for our help and support to our Southwest Florida neighbors to go beyond excellence.
Despite the impact of Hurricane Milton on our area, recovery efforts are in progress, and significant progress has been made thanks to the tireless efforts of first responders, line crews, and volunteers. As we focus on rebuilding what was lost, Royal Shell and its sister companies will be there to provide assistance. The road to recovery may take time, but our community is strong, and we are optimistic about emerging from this experience more resilient.

SANIBEL/CAPTIVA
Sanibel Island is Open — Reentry passes are no longer necessary to access Sanibel Island. However, to allow crews to expedite clean-up and restore utilities, they ask that you do not travel to the islands if you do not have business on the island or need to travel to Sanibel or Captiva.
Captiva Island Now Accessible by Vehicle — Residents of Captiva with a green entry pass or a valid government-issued photo ID showing a Captiva address will be granted access to the Sanibel Causeway. Businesses with a red reentry pass will be granted access.
Sanibel Island Curfew — The city has a curfew from 9 pm to 6 am daily until further notice. However, please limit travel throughout the island as much as possible to allow crews to expedite clean-up.
FORT MYERS BEACH
Boil Water Notice — Although you now have water, the entire Island is currently under a boil water notice. Two consecutive days of satisfactory bacteriological water samples must show that the water is safe to drink before the boil water notice is lifted.
Hurricane Re-Entry Passes Required — The island is open only to residents, owners, contractors, landscapers, and anyone working to remove debris with a valid Re-entry Pass. You may get one in the Target Shopping Center parking lot (15880 San Carlos Blvd Ste 101, Fort Myers, FL 33908) on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 7:00 am – 4:30 pm, weather permitting. All contractors will need to provide their Contractor License Number. If your pass is not teal, you must get the updated version. The old purple pass will not work for re-entry.
Curfew — Curfew hours for Matanzas Pass Bridge on the north end of Estero Island are 8 pm to 6 am. For the Big Carlos Pass Bridge on the south end, residents can use the 8 pm to 6 am curfew, but contractors must adhere to a 7 pm to 7 am curfew. Residents should be prepared to show proof of residency if they travel on and off the Island during the curfew hours.
FORT MYERS
Solid Waste Collection — The City of Fort Myers suspends residential and commercial solid waste collections until Monday, October 14. Commercial and residential trash collection will resume at that time. Debris collection will be picked up by contractors starting Monday with no particular route schedule. Horticulture, recycling, and bulk collection are suspended until further notice as we focus on storm clean-up.
Storm Debris — Solid Waste will collect three types of storm debris. Each type must be in a separate pile for collection and will be collected in multiple passes:
- Construction and demolition debris: This includes carpet, furniture, drywall, and other materials that have been damaged by storms to homes and structures.
- Vegetation: This includes tree branches, palm fronds, logs, and plants. Vegetative debris should not be placed in plastic bags and can be left at the curb.
- Appliances: Please leave appliances at the curb with all food removed.
